Our Home in New Braunfels

In late October, 1998, we returned to the Austin, Texas, area from overseas assignments in the Netherlands and Oman to begin early retirement. We had a nice, large three year old house in Cedar Park, but wanted a place with some land and privacy far enough from the neighbors that we would not be able to hear their dogs bark and have them see everything we do.

We found our dream home just outside of New Braunfels, Texas, a German town with 27,000 or so population in the Hill Country 35 miles north of San Antonio. It has a pool, indoor hot tub, multi level deck, and 3000 square feet of living area. It is perched on the top of a canyon overlooking the Guadelupe River in the middle of a 5 acre parcel. It is heavily wooded with cedar, oak, and mountain laurel trees. Every evening, the deer come out to graze and in the evening the raccoons and possums come to visit and share the cat food on the deck. The pictures below give some feel of what it looks like. Unfortunately it the house is so secluded that it is impossible to get a picture that does the exterior justice.
